Formally known as Lumodokate Studios, Modoka Studios was founded by a group of Homebrew and Indie game enthausiasts, in an effort to recreate retro games. Before the foundation in 2012, our founders released small games for the Nintendo DS, Sony PSP, PS3 and PC for the enjoyment of the fans. These small games generated more than 100.000 downloads, and multiple updated versions followed. Lumodokate Studios was created to capitalize on this accomplishment. In the following two years, Lumodokate Studios developed publishing contacts, and was set to publish their first Android game.
Mid-2014, Lumodokate Studios turned into Modoka Studios. This re-branding was one of the different stages of change. A new name, new logo and new business strategy would push the company into a new era. Modoka Studios ditched the indie-feel for a more serious gaming company. The company still remains active in the indie-scene, due to various partners.
In 2015, the company announced to publish their games for Chinese App markets. By doing that, Modoka Studios became one of the few Dutch game studios to do so.
